In the rehabilitation area at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, patients work with physical therapists in an open room.
In the emergency room, beds are separated by curtains.
Patients are wheeled from the surgical suite to in-patient rooms through hallways open to hospital visitors.
All are situations a planned $31 million renovation project will eliminate. The hospital will host a public meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 13, with a light supper and a tour of the hospital, to talk about the project and plans. Attendees are asked to RSVP to Katie Smith at 712-464-4117.
“We want them to know we are working to meet the needs of our people in our community,” Smith said.
