Shady Oaks invites public to 50th anniversary celebration

Not long ago, Brittany Drew talked with a former Shady Oaks Care Center employee and resident. 
The woman had written a poem, full of inside jokes, about the time she had spent at the Lake City center, said Drew, who does public relations for the care center.
“I thought it was cool that Shady Oaks had made such an impact on her that she wrote a poem,” Drew said.
She’s hoping to hear more stories and memories Sept. 23, when Shady Oaks officially celebrates its 50th anniversary. A come-and-go reception will run from 2 to 4 p.m., with a presentation and speeches planned for 3 p.m.
