In the 2017 Class 2A, District 7 opener against rival Southeast Valley, the Titans varsity football team blanked the Jaguars by a 28-0 final in Lake City Friday, Sept. 8 to improve to 2-1 on the season and start at 1-0 in district play.
“This was a great start to our district season,” said SCC head coach Bryan Case of the win over the Jaguars. “Southeast Valley has a nice team, but they were faced with some injuries. Our kids capitalized and were able to come away with a hard-fought victory. I’m proud of our team and the way they were able to battle tonight.”
The Titans scored twice in both the second and fourth quarters while the SCC held firm and posted the shut out.
With 9:54 remaining in the first half, Jonathon Frantz scored on a 16-yard run for SCC help give the Titans a 7-0 lead after Zane Neubaum’s successful point-after attempt. And with 6:27 left in the first half, Jared Birks caught a 24-yard pass from Chase McAlister to help make it 14-0 as Neubaum again was successful on the PAT.
