SCC volleyball team improves to 7-3

A pair of wins in Twin Lakes Conference varsity volleyball play were earned by the South Central Calhoun Titans Thursday, Aug. 31 in Graettinger. SCC defeated St. Mary’s of Storm Lake 3-0 by the scores of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-11, and then defeated the Titans of Graettinger-Terrill/Ruthven-Ayrshire in three games 25-15, 25-12 and 25-11 to start out TLC league play at 2-0 and improve to 7-3 on the year.
In SCC’s win over St. Mary’s, the Titans were 65-for-75 serving with 11 aces. Emma McKinney and Maia Schossow had three aces each, Teylor Anderson and Hannah Seil had two apiece and Maddie Jones recorded one.
McKinney had 11 kills and Seil finished with 10 kills against the Panthers. Leading in digs against St. Mary’s was Anderson and Jones with 12 each. Anderson had 28 assists in the win over St. Mary’s.
Against host GT/RA, the Titans finished 69-for-73 serving with seven aces ad Jones led the way with three.
