The expansion of the South Central Calhoun Elementary School, answering of questions concerning the expansion and Superintendent sharing with East Sac County were the main topics of discussion by the South Central Calhoun Board of Directors , as the school board held a public hearing on Feb. 4 at SCC Elementary in Rockwell City.
The main topic of discussion, the public hearing concerning the expansion of the elementary school, occurred after the SCC Ag Class held
a presentation for the board. SCC instructor Matt Carson and students Ashley Hanks, Mariah Pagel, Laci Riedesel and Riley Synder shared information about the first semester course Diversity in Agriculture.
This included guest speakers and field trips to experience the various opportunities in agriculture beyond farming and livestock. The board thanked the students and Carlson for their time.
Then, the board opened the meeting to those in attendance to ask questions or make comments to the proposed elementary project. The project is to add a student services area, gymnasium, three classrooms, parking lot and modify the current office area into classroom space.
