District play for the South Central Calhoun varsity football team began with a big offensive bang as the Titans last Friday night in Lake City as SCC rolled to a 62-19 victory over Woodward Academy.

The Titans, who improved to 2-1 overall and opened Class 1A District 7 with a win on Friday, rolled to a 41-0 halftime lead against the Knights as SCC scored three touchdowns in both the first and second quarter. Overall, the Titans rolled to season’s bet 472 total yards while holding the Knights to 147 with 319 yards for SCC coming on the ground.

“I’m extremely happy with tonight’s performance,” said SCC head football coach Bryan Case following the win over Woodward Academy. “After last week’s set-back, I thought our kids came out and responded with heart, determination and passion for the the game. We blocked better, tackled better, and were just improved in all areas of the game. We still have a number of things we need to address, but our team is headed in the right direction. We have another tough non-district game next week as we play host to Kuemper. We know were going to have our hands full, as we play the defending 2A state champions.”
