SCC girls win three straight, now 19-2

South Central Calhoun posted a 3-0 record last week in varsity girls basketball action to improve to 19-2 overall and closed out 2017-18 Twin Lakes Conference play at 9-2 following wins over Southeast Valley by a 77-49 final Tuesday, Jan. 30, and over Manson Northwest Webster by a 55-36 final Friday, Feb. 2 in Manson last week. SCC most recently defeated Carroll High 61-43 in Rockwell City Saturday, Feb. 3.
The Titans have one more regular season contest this Tuesday night in Rockwell City, a non-conference match-up with East Sac County Feb. 6, before entering post-season play in Class 3A regional quarterfinal round action against Southeast Valley in Rockwell City Saturday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
The winner of the SCC versus Southeast Valley contest will then play the winner of the Pocahontas Area versus Estherville-Lincoln Central quarterfinal round contest for the semifinals at Rockwell City Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
In the Titans conference victory over Southeast Valley last Tuesday night, a trio of SCC players scored in double figures in the win, led by Maddie Jones with 24 points, followed by Heidi Hammen with 13 and Jessica Hicks with 11. Anna McChesney was fourth in scoring against the Jags with nine points while Brielle Korleski had eight and Emma McKinney tallied seven.
