SCC girls sixth at Regional Golf

In 2017 Class 2A Girls Regional First Round girls golf tournament action, the South Central Calhoun varsity girls golf team placed sixth overall at the regional tournament Monday, May 15, in Eagle Grove with an 18-hole round team total of 445 strokes to end the season. The top two teams from the regional tournament advancing included Emmetsburg with a 371 and Ogden with a 392.
For SCC, senior Kelsi Carlson led the way with a 101 while Tiffany Poen had a 107. Vanessa Squier had the third best score among the Titan girls with a 114 and Payton Macke finished with a 123 to round out the team score for SCC. Also competing for SCC was Kaylynn Kruckenberg with a 125.
Top honors for the event went to Allison Freeman of Emmetsburg with an 82. Second place went to Ogden’s Hannah Carter with an 88. Also advancing to the regional final round to be held at Rice Lake Golf Course near Lake Mills Monday, May 22 were Sarah Pugh of Emmetsburg (91), Morgan Byson of Manson Northwest Webster (93) and Elizabeth Varland of Eagle Grove (97).
