For the second year in a row and for the third time in the last four seasons, the South Central Calhoun boys varsity track and field team is once again the Twin Lakes Conference champions.
The Titans won the 2017 Twin Lakes Conference Track and Field at Sioux Central High School in Sioux Rapids Tuesday, May 2 as SCC scored 127 points to beat out the Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon Indians by 15 points. The Titans won three event titles and grabbed second place medals in eight additional events to secure a number of points.
“What a great night for track and field with awesome competition,” said SCC head boys track coach Bryan Case. “I’m so proud of our kids for the focus, drive and determination they showed in winning the conference title. We knew going in that this meet was going to be close, especially not having Kody Case available to run, but our kids took this as a challenge and answered to the call. The fact that we accomplished this task with only one senior running is even better news for our future. Hopefully, this will give us the confidence needed heading into district next Thursday.”
