South Central Calhoun’s Spencer Moon earned the individual varsity boys conference championship at the 2017 Twin Lakes Conference Cross Country Meet held Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Sioux Rapids Country Club in Sioux Rapids as the Titan boys finished second overall as a team with 70, only four points shy of host Sioux Central with 66 points.
“Congratulations to Spencer Moon on claiming the boy’s individual championship in a time of 15:45,” said SCC head coach Brian Knapp. “Our boy’s varsity team struggled a bit and Sioux Central, to their credit, brought their best today to take the team title. Our varsity girls are just ‘snake-bit’ with injury and illness right now and we were unable to field enough finishers to score in the team scoring. The girls that did run gave great effort though.”
Matthew Clark was the second Titan varsity boys runner to cross the finish at the conference meet as he was 15th overall in 17:53.96. Teammates Jacob Stephenson (16th, 17:59.77), Nic Englin (17th, 18:02.30), Chase Pibal (21st, 18:10.51), Ben Englin (26th, 18:34.38) and Sam Musselman (31st, 18:42.97) also saw action for the SCC varsity boys at conference.
