SCC boys run to MVAO title, Titan girls second

South Central Calhoun’s varsity boys cross country team captured the Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto Invitational team title Thursday, Sept. 25, in Mapleton. The Titans finished with 36 team points for first place while host MVAO was second in the varsity boys competition with 55. In girls action, the Titans placed second in the varsity competition with 31 points behind Woodbury Central/Kingsley-Pierson, who scored a total of 27 points.

“We ran a little better tonight and got a chance to compete in a different meet for us against some different competition,” said SCC head coach Brian Knapp.  “It was a good experience for us.”

In the boys varsity race, Ryan Daisy of SCC was a second place finisher as he crossed the line in 18 minutes, 23 seconds. Teammate Lucas Farrington was third overall in 18:36 while teammates Zach Ludwig (8th, 19:23) and Kory McCarter (10th, 19:39) also placed in the top 10 individually. Chase Pibal rounded out the varsity team scoring for SCC with his 13th place finish in 19:46.
