SCC boys medal in two events at 2017 state track meet

Both the South Central Calhoun boys varsity track team’s shuttle hurdle relay and Chase McAlister in the 800 meter run brought home state meet medals Saturday, May 20, at the 2017 Class 2A Boys State Track and Field meet held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Overall, the Titans had 10 events qualified for the three-day event held from Thursday, May 18 through Saturday, May 20 at the blue oval.
Mason Merkley, Brandon Assman, Hunter Muhlbauer and Josh Van Hulzen recorded a finals time of 1 minute, 1.50 seconds in the finals May 20 for the Titans for sixth place overall. They qualified for the finals Thursday, May 18, with a preliminary time of 1:01.46, which also was ranked sixth overall.
McAlister also medaled for the Titans Saturday at the state meet as he ran a personal best time of 2:00.10 to earn a seventh place medal out of section two of the 800 meter run finals.
