It was the end of the season, and the end of an era for the South Central Calhoun girls varsity basketball team Friday, Feb. 17 in Logan. The Titans finished the 2016-17 season at 17-7 overall with a 56-48 loss in Class 2A, Region 3 regional semifinal action to Logan-Magnolia (20-3).
For the Titans head coach Dave Birks, it was also his final game as head coach for the SCC girls varsity basketball program. The long-time coach is stepping down from his post after 34 years of coaching high school girls basketball as he finished his career with an impressive 518-224 record.
“We had unfortunately too many mental break downs tonight, especially on the defensive end and they are a good team,” said SCC head coach Dave Birks following the contest against the Panthers. “They took advantage of it and we never got into a good flow.”
