SCC band takes 4th place at state competition

In his comments to the South Central Calhoun High School jazz band, judge and University of Wisconsin-Plattville music professor Allen Cordingley described the band as a “nice, clean sounding band.”
The band placed fourth April 4 at the Iowa Jazz Band Championships.
“I’m super excited about this program,” Cordingley told students and listeners, according to recorded comments the band posted online following the competition. “I really liked the tunes that you guys chose and worked up for this. Congrats on being here.”
Depaul University Director of Jazz Studies Dana Hall praised the ensembles’ performance in his comments, also recorded and posted online by the band.
