The Rockwell City Council took several more steps in its pursuit of a state housing grant program, which would allow up to six city homeowners to get about $25,000 of home repairs done at no charge.
The council picked Mayor Phil Heinlen, oncoming councilmember Adam Reiss and City Clerk Kelly Smidt to serve on the housing committee. The committee will help the Mid-Iowa Development Association narrow the applications down to the final six, as well as provide other input in the process.
The council also authorized MIDAS to move ahead with an environmental report, and to begin verifying other information, as well as approved the administration plan presented by MIDAS. MIDAS officials have said having these steps taken now will improve the city’s chances of receiving the Community Development Block Grant funds. The application process is extremely competitive.
