Rest area renamed for late conservation director

The Highway 4 Recreation Area and pond was one of Keith Roos’ pet projects.
Roos, who served as Calhoun County’s conservation director for more than 30 years, died in October. On Saturday, conservation board members, county officials and young fishers and their parents gathered to dedicate a new sign naming the pond in Roos’ honor.
“Keith worked so hard to make this pond,” his wife, Mona Roos, said. “He enjoyed it. He brought his grandkids here.”
She told the gathered crowd Roos would have appreciated the county’s efforts to forever associate his name with the pond he loved.
