Regional emergency responders perform tornado exercise

Austin Olberding was matter-of-fact about the traumatic injury he had Saturday morning.
“I have a bilateral leg crush,” the South Central Calhoun High School student said, his legs barely visible under a stack of hay bales and pallets. “I probably won’t make it out with my legs.”
Of course, the injuries weren’t real and Olberding wasn’t really in danger of amputation. Instead, he was one of about 25 people who played victims during a two-hour emergency exercise in Lake City that called on first responders from Calhoun, Webster and Sac Counties to respond the kind of emergencies that would occur following a tornado that caused multiple injuries and fatalities.
