Rockwell City’s Planning and Zoning Board will send a request to vacate an alley behind the Calhoun County Reminder building, near downtown, to the City Council withe a positive recommendation.
But board members raised several questions about the project, including whether the lot new daycare owner Heather Fisher is considering purchasing will also need to be rezoned.
“(Fisher) has purchased that building (on Fourth Street, across from the Rockwell City Post Office) for daycare,” Rockwell City Clerk Kelly Smidt said. “She would like to purchase the empty lot to the east of there and she would like to vacate the alley (between her building and the empty lot).”
Fisher plans to use the lot as a play area for children at the daycare; vacating the alley would decrease the traffic down the alley.
