A Rockwell City man has refused to leave his Grant Street home since last night, following an argument with a neighbor.

Rockwell City Police Chief Larry Schoop said officers responded to the report of an argument at about 5:40 p.m. Monday. Shortly thereafter, the man left the neighboring home, went into his own house and has not contacted police since, Schoop said.

Some residents of nearby homes were evacuated Monday and allowed only to return long enough to pick up what they needed for work.

A negotiator with the Iowa State Patrol was helping to negotiate with the man.
