One year in, Heisterkamp upbeat about progress, future of county economic development

Jill Heisterkamp has spent the past year learning a lot about economic development.
A Lake City native who lived in Michigan, Kansas City and other parts of Iowa, Heisterkamp returned to Calhoun County last year to become Calhoun County Economic Development Director. In that time, she’s visited all of the communities in the county, attended conferences and forums on economic development and used her marketing background to begin spreading the word about the county’s best features.
Best of all, she said, has been working with county residents. She said she has been impressed with “how receptive all of the communities have been to new ideas. They’re willing to learn, to try new projects.”
