Just when the South Central Calhoun boys’ basketball team got pushed higher up the Associated Press’ Iowa high school basketball poll, the No. 8-ranked (Class 2A) Titans were in for a pair of fierce contests on the hardwood.
With conference supremacy on the line, SCC passed their latest test with flying colors.
The Titans passed their proverbial litmus test, bypassing Newell-Fonda 66-59 on Friday night at the Newell-Fonda High School Gym in Newell before outlasting No. 9-ranked (Class 1A) Sioux Central 68-62 on Saturday night at the SCC Middle School Gym in Rockwell City.
From the first of the two twoday stretches, South Central came out with a 15-1 overall mark with an unblemished 10-0 record in the Twin Lakes Conference. The two victories also extended the Titans’ winning streak to 14 games.
