In the world of sports, especially in the postseason, there is no such thing as guarantees.
For some, it’s one of the pleasures of the game. Upsets stir up the appeal of the playoffs, where anything can happen, while creating intrigue for a would-be Cinderella.
For quite a few, it’s one of the most painful aspects of the game. The hopes and dreams of a potential championship are dashed, as reality can often rear its head – warts and all.
With the South Central Calhoun girls’ basketball team, it was a situation of the latter rather than the former.
