New face at the helm of Shady Oaks

Randy Sparks, a Knoxville native, first came to Shady Oaks Care Center more than a decade ago.
Even then, he was struck by the facility’s atmosphere.
It was 2006, when Sparks had enrolled in a gerontology program with Des Moines Area Community College, the start of his second career. One of his instructors assigned the class to take a field trip to Lake City to tour Shady Oaks.
“That’s when I learned about the company that owned Shady Oaks,” Sparks said, referring to Vetter Health Services.
