Calhoun County Sheriff Scott Anderson and his deputies have a new tool to keep them safe and help them track down people suspected of crimes.
Anderson last week showed the Board of Supervisors the new computer program, which every deputy now has in his vehicle.
“This helped us a ton just the other day,” Anderson said.
Maintenance workers at Rainbow Bridge reported a man driving around the park there. Anderson said when the workers approached the man, he threatened them with a hammer.
“While searching Lake City for this guy, we can see where everybody’s at,” Anderson said, pointing out how the program marks the location of each county vehicle, as well as some state and city vehicles. This allowed the deputies to conduct a more efficient search, because they weren’t overlapping with each other.
