A Calhoun County magistrate set the initial bond for Freddy Crisp at $1 million at a hearing Thursday morning.
Crisp, 48, of Pomeory, was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in the Nov. 10 death of Dale Currie Potter, 41, of Devils Lake, N.D. Crisp expressed concern about the high bond amount during his initial appearance before Magistrate David Gidel.
“We believe Mr. Crisp to be a flight risk,” Calhoun County Attorney Tina Meth Farrington.
Gidel set a preliminary hearing for Nov. 30, but said it was unlikely for the hearing to take place. If investigators file their probable cause documents prior to that date, the hearing does not need to proceed.
