Moon third at Holstein to lead SCC

After a couple of weeks off from competition, the South Central Calhoun cross country was back in action Saturday, Sept. 9 as they competed in the annual Tim Thomas Cross Country Classic in Holstein.
Leading the way for the SCC varsity boys team was junior Spencer Moon, who placed third overall in Class A with a personal best time of 16 minutes, 21.33 seconds. Overall, the SCC boys placed ninth with 218 in Class A as Sioux City North won the team title with 50 points.
In girls varsity action, SCC was led by Lily Christian, who placed 55th in Class A with a time of 23:24.61. Overall, the Titan girls varsity squad was 12th with 327 as Woodbury Central won the Class A team crown with 49 team points.
“Overall, our kids all took some steps in the right direction,” said SCC head coach Brian Knapp. “Tough meet but great meet for the kids to be a part of.”
