Moon sixth at Tim Thomas XC Classic

In one of the largest regular season cross country meets held each year hosted by Ridge View at Holstein, the 2018 rendition of the Tim Thomas XC Classic was no exception Saturday, Sept. 8, and SCC’s Spencer Moon earned a top 10 finish among many elite runners with his sixth place finish in the varsity boys race. “This was a very tough early season meet for us,” said SCC head coach Brian Knapp. “We learned a lot about where we are and what we need to do to improve.” Moon finished in 16 minutes, 56.07 seconds for sixth place in the varsity Class A meet which featured large school teams from Class 4A, 3A and 2A from across the state of Iowa. As a team, the SCC varsity boys were 10th with 307 points as Gilbert posted a meet low 34 points to take the championship.
