Moon qualifies for state cross country meet

For the fourth time in his high school career, South Central Calhoun’s Spencer Moon has qualified for the Class 2A State Cross Country meet. Moon was second individually at the 2018 Class 2A State Qualifying meet held at Landsmeer Golf Course in Orange City Thursday, Oct. 18.
Moon posted a time of 16 minutes, 55.50 seconds for second place in the boys race behind only Joe Anderson of George-Little Rock/Central Lyon, who won the boys race in 16:32.9. Moon will run this Saturday, Oct. 28 at the 2018 Class 2A Boys State Cross Country Championships at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course north of Fort Dodge for the 2A boys race at 1:30 p.m.
Moon has medaled twice the last two years, taking fourth place overall in both 2016 and 2017. He placed 46th overall his freshman season in 2015 at state. South Central Calhoun’s boys team placed 11th out of 13 complete teams with 241 points. Advancing to state in the boys team competition at Orange City were Sioux Center (46), George-Little Rock/Central Lyon (64) and Unity Christian (98).
