Monthly feedback leads to better patient care and quality award at SMCH

Not too long ago, Stewart Memorial Community Hospital officials noticed a pattern in comments coming back from hospital patients.
“Recently, we’ve had more comments coming through on our inpatient side,” CEO Cindy Carstens said.
The hospital had also recently hired a lot of new staff members. Looking at the comments and considering the relative newness of the staff members, hospital officials began to wonder if their employee onboarding process wasn’t sufficiently covering some of the processes staff were supposed to be following. That led officials to review the orientation process, and introduce some reviews of procedures for new staff.
