Middle schoolers test their coding skills

Clark Blair and Jacob Kalkwarf got a taste of computer programming last week when South Central Calhoun Middle School participated in the global Hour of Code movement.
“I liked it,” Kalkwarf said. “I wouldn’t mind doing that for a career. It was pretty simple and fun.”
Three teachers – Krystal Lynch, Jamie Maulsby and Alex Herrington – coordinated the program, which created time for each grade to spend an hour playing computer coding games. The younger students played a game called “Dragon Dash,” which instructed them to move blocks on the screen to prompt their dragon to make particular moves. Older students had a more complicated game.
