South Central Calhoun’s varsity football team rolled to a 72-7 homecoming victory over visiting Shenandoah in Class 2A, District 7 football play Friday, Sept. 15 in Lake City.
SCC’s Chase McAlister scored five times alone for the Titans while SCC as a team amassed 532 total yards while holding Shenandoah to on 169 yards for the game.
McAlister scored touchdown runs of 76 yards, 85 yards and 35 yards on the ground, he caught a 26-yard touchdown pass and he also scored on a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown. All of his touchdowns were scored in the first half against the Mustangs as he finished with five carries for 204 yards and three scores, two receptions for 36 yards and a score and a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown.
“I’m happy with the outcome, but at the same time, I always feel bad when something like this happens,” said SCC head coach Bryan Case. “All of our kids played hard and I’m proud of their effort, but this one just got out of hand and it snow-balled on Shenandoah. We never saw this happening going into the game, because Shenandoah had the number-one rushing attack in our district, and they have some really good players. Credit our kids with playing responsibility football and executing our game plan tonight.”
The Titans led 49-7 at the half and scored two touchdowns in the third period and once more in the fourth.
