A Farnhamville man entered a not guilty plea June 26 to charges of attempted murder and carrying a weapon.
Christian Balke-Thompson, 23, was charged with attempted murder following an April 30 incident in Lake City. According to information filed with the Calhoun County District Court by the Lake City Police Department, Balke-Thompson got into a fight that night with Dylan Pederson.
Balke-Thompson and Pederson “were in an argument over money,” and Balke-Thompson pulled a “large hunting knife” out. Pederson told police he went to get out his own knife, when Balke-Thompson put his knife to Pederson’s neck. Police said Balke-Thompson then cut Pederson’s throat, enough to require 18 stitches.
