Lois Smith knew she loved numbers.
But it wasn’t until she started working at Lake City State Bank her senior year of high school that she realized a bank career could be within her reach. Smith was taking a secretarial training class that year when she was assigned to the bank during the second semester. In the month after graduation, she filled in for vacationing employees.
On July 3, 1958, she was hired full time as a bank bookkeeper, and what started as a part-time, class job became a lengthy career.
“We’ve always had good people here,” Smith said. “And customers – a lot of loyal, nice customers.”
