Children’s games during last year’s Lohrville Fun Days weren’t a big hit, City Clerk Kris Kavanaugh said. So when she began planning children’s activities for this year’s festival, she was looking for something new.
Kavanaugh saw Manson had hosted a bike rodeo for kids during this year’s Crater Days festival, and she reached out to Manson Police Chief Gerry Frick, who organized that event. Frick jumped right in to help.
Thanks to a donation from the Lohrville Lion’s Club, Lohrville will be able to offer 65 free kids bike helmets to children who attend the bike rodeo.
Frick said he decided to put together an event to provide a refresher course on the road rules as they pertain to cyclists after a child was hit and injured by a car last year near Manson Northwest Webster High School.
