Lohrville native picked for IDALS second-in-command

Growing up outside Lohrville, Julie (Kock) Kenney couldn’t have predicted she ever would take on the the job she started last week.
Kenney, a 2000 graduate of Southern Cal High School, was appointed this month to the position of Deputy Secretary for the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. It was at Southern Cal, and living in Calhoun County on her family’s farm, that she learned the lessons that started her on the path to be second-in-command of the government department that oversees Iowa’s top industry.
“There were so many opportunities to do different things,” Kenney said of her high school years. “I was always learning and growing.”
