The City of Lohrville will have $10,000 to use for walking trail improvements this year, thanks to a prize from The Healthiest State Initiative and Wellmark.
Lohrville won the 2018 Blue Mile Set the Pace challenge – the tiny town had the biggest percentage of residents register for the annual walk in downtown Des Moines.
To get that many people signed up – about 80 total from Lohrville’s zip code – is a noteworthy achievement, said Healthiest State Initiative Executive Director Jami Haberl.
“That takes community will,” she said. “It shows that regardless of the size of your community, people can rally together.”
