Initially, the target date of opening the Lake City Aquatic Center was set for beginning of July. It turns out that pool goers were in for a pleasant surprise.

In a social media announcement made on Wednesday, the City of Lake City announced the opening of the Lake City Aquatic Center for this Saturday. In a social media announcement made on Wednesday, the City of Lake City announced the opening of the Lake City Aquatic Center for this Saturday. The pool, which began to fill up on this past Monday, will open up at noon and close at 7 p.m.

There will be a family swim time from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily, while there is an adult swim from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

The release also provided nine procedures to help combat COVID-19 and adhere to social distancing standards.

First, patrons will be required to sign a “Hold Harmless” form the first time attending the pool this year. Persons under the age of 18 will need the form filled out by their parents or guardians. Forms are available at the pool or City Hall. Each patron will have their temperature checked before entering the Aquatic Center, and physical distancing of at least six feet will be required, unless they are household members.

Masks are recommended to be worn when not in the water, and patrons are encouraged to wash their hands as often as possible. Patrons are prompted to use towels on all chairs, and chairs will be disinfected by staff after use.

Private goggles are permitted. However, there will be no sharing of toys, kickboards or noodles, unless it is from an immediate family member. The pool will not loan out equipment this year, and the climbing wall is also closed for the time being.

Most importantly, do not the facility if you are experiencing a cough, fever, cold or sneezing.

According to City Hall of Rockwell City, the municipal pool within the Golden Buckle of the Corn Belt is slated to be open by July 1.
