Kid’s Spot, SMCH honor Dettman for quarter century of service

One afternoon last week, the children at Kid’s Spot daycare in Lake City gathered and started singing “Happy Birthday” to 3-year-old class teacher Sherry Dettman.
Except it wasn’t Dettman’s birthday – the week marked the 25th anniversary since she had joined the daycare. Some of the younger children were a little mixed up about what they were celebrating, but they had no doubts about who they were celebrating, and they came bearing gifts and cards expressing their gratitude for Dettman.
When she came in to work July 30, Dettman started to wonder just what was going on.
