Iowa Central Community College officials are hoping a 12 percent reduction in the amount of money they are asking voters to approve is enough of a change to garner the 60 percent yes votes needed to approve the tax increase.
ICCC President Dr. Dan Kinney has been making the rounds throughout the nine-county region that supports the college, again making the case for voters to support the bond referendum. Last week, he stopped in Rockwell City to make his pitch.
One change that affects Calhoun County students, Kinney said, is a shift from a larger career academy that would have likely been located in Lohrville to a smaller program that serves South Central Calhoun, East Sac County and Manson Northwest Webster students, Kinney said. He met Dec. 21 with superintendents from all three districts to start planning the program, he said.
The focus for that program will be advanced manufacturing, agriculture, construction trades and medical professions, particularly nursing.
