Gorden Tree Service is celebrating nine years of operation by giving back to Lake City residents, Nick Gorden says.
Gorden said he decided to follow up on a letter Lake City officials sent to city residents in early summer, reminding them to keep trees at least 15 feet above streets and 8 feet above sidewalks. Homeowners were told if they didn’t trim the tree branches to those levels, the city would send a tree-trimming crew and add the cost of the tree trimming to the homeowner’s property bill. Gorden decided his company could help out, so they started traveling, quadrant by quadrant, looking for trees that encroach on those limits and trimming them, at no cost.
“We thought it would be a nice way to give back,” Gorden said.
