Goodman makes second appearance at state wrestling

South Central Calhoun senior 160-pounder Brody Goodman made his second career appearance at the state wrestling tournament last week at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Goodman, who also qualified for state as sophomore in 2016, finished the season at 46-10 overall after going 0-2 at the 2018 Class 2A state meet and ended his career with 169 wins, which ranked his fourth on the all time list for South Central Calhoun.
Goodman faced Connor Pellett of Atlantic-CAM in the opening round of the tournament Thursday, Feb. 15 in Des Moines and he lost by a 10-1 major decision. The score against Pellett was 0-0 after the first period and Goodman was down only 3-0 after the second period. Pellett was able to take down Goodman twice in the third period and scored a three-point near fall in the final seconds of the match.
