County still waiting for Dakota Access to make final payments

Calhoun County has not received all of the payments owed by Dakota Access pipeline’s parent company.
Engineer Zac Andersen told the Board of Supervisors the company still owes Calhoun County about $75,000 in reimbursements.
“They would like us to sign a damage release that is unreasonable,” Andersen said, adding he and Calhoun County Attorney Tina Meth Farrington both characterized that request in such a way. “Our agreement very clearly doesn’t talk about a damage release and they need to reimburse us for damage is so many days.”
Somers resident Homer Martz, who has spent more than a year registering complaints with the Board of Supervisors about the Dakota Access pipeline, which he said cut through a waterline he had on a neighbor’s property, returned to the board with new concerns. Martz said he recently received a form letter telling him he must notify the pipeline company any time he plans to work on his water line.
