Calhoun County Engineer Zac Andersen brought plans for a resurfacing project on N57, which will include work on First Street through Rockwell City, to the Rockwell City Council June 19.
Andersen said the project will cost about $1 million, with Rockwell City to be responsible for about $124,000.
Andersen’s office will handle the design, bid letting and managing the contract, which he said he was hoping to have in place in time for construction this summer or early this fall. He said the county would set up a reimbursement schedule, allowing the city to pay its portion in payments over the course of several years.
“Are there federal dollars available?” Councilman John Hepp asked, noting First Street is a Farm-to-Market Road.
There is not a federal funding source for this particular project, Andersen said. The county receives a set amount of money annually to maintain Farm-to-Market roads, but that money is not tied to any specific project.
