Cottonwood Cemetery history walk to return May 26

In the two years since the Cottonwood Cemetery Preservation Association first sponsored historical re-enactments in the cemetery, group members have often been asked when they’ll do the event again.
The answer, Virginia Sheffield said, is this year. The second Cemetery Walk is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the cemetery, southwest of Lake City.
“I think we were definitely surprised and please at the amount of interest we had,” Sheffield said. “It clearly became a popular event.”
Joining the event with the Lake View Civil War re-enactors will be several people in Confederate Army gear. The highlighted Calhoun County residents will be different, with seating provided at each gravesite, Sheffield said.
