In May, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds toured Lake City’s Bowie International.
On Wednesday, intrigued by Reynolds’ positive report about the company, it was Gov. Terry Branstad himself who took the tour, checking out how the 40-employee factory creates mobile veterinary units for sale around the country.
As he walked through the plant, Bowie employees frequently stopped him, shaking his hand and complimenting him on what they saw as a gubernatorial job well done. Mike Sporleder of Lake City approached Branstad with a black and white photograph of a Cub Scout Troop with Branstad more than 30 years ago. Sporleder asked Branstad to autograph the photo, which the governor did.
Branstad used the tour to focus on industry needs in rural Iowa.
