The West Lyon High School football team’s bus broke down near Early when the team travelled to Lake City to play the South Central Calhoun Titans Oct. 26.
The West Lyon bus driver was able to “limp” to Lake City that night, SCC Superintendent Jeff Kruse said.
“They used one of our buses to take kids home,” Kruse said.
That generosity, as well as the hospitality from SCC fans and school staff, touched West Lyon school officials, Kruse said.
SCC Activities Director Mark Schaefer shared some other, similar feedback, about the district with the school board at its Nov. 19 meeting.
West Lyon officials told Schaefer their time at SCC was one of their best experiences, despite their loss, Schaefer said.
