Blues Hall of Fame artist Nelson to perform in Pomeroy

Paul Nelson sees a lot of America every year.
The Grammy nominated guitarist and producer said for everything that separates Americans in different parts of the country, or people from different parts of the world, one thing still holds everyone together.
“The fact that everybody loves music,” Nelson told The Graphic-Advocate in a phone interview from the road. “That’s what unites everybody. That’s the universal language.”
Then, he joked, he sees only one other thing that is equally understood and accepted worldwide – that green means go and red means stop.
Nelson studied for years as the protégé, bandmate and producer for rock/blues icon Johnny Winter. Those years of studying were something somewhat unique to blues musicians, he said, with successful artists following a tradition of taking newcomers under their wings. When Winter died, Nelson began thinking about other sounds and styles that had influenced him. He went back to the 1970s, grabbed musicians he knew and told him his vision.
